A sailing holiday is a great way to enjoy nature, spend time with family and friends and get rid of the stress of the year. Sailing holidays became more and more popular in recent years. This summer, you can get to see the beautiful bays of the Aegean and the Mediterranean and have an unforgettable holiday experience with your loved ones.
In this article, we listed all the important questions that should be answered before you go on a yacht vacation. Planning your holiday ahead with your team is important to have a safe and pleasant vacation.
How should I plan my sailing route?
One of the first things you need to plan before your sailing holiday is your route. You can plan your route according to your preferred boat type, location and budget. Blue cruise boats in Turkey often depart from Bodrum, Gocek, Marmaris and Fethiye. You may choose Marmaris bays for a calm and peaceful holiday. If you want to get to know the history of the region by walking among the historical ruins, the bays in Fethiye will be the right choice for you. For a more active and fun-filled holiday, you may choose to visit Bodrum bays. You can also sail in different locations such as Kas, Kekova, Bozburun and the Greek Islands.
When is the best time for a yacht vacation?
The sailing holiday season in Turkey begins in April and continues until the end of October. The boats are almost all reserved in June, July and August. We recommend that you make your reservation for the last weeks of May or September for a quiet and peaceful holiday. If you want to have a different experience and watch the harmony of the blue and brown bays with the arrival of autumn, October will be an ideal time to go on a sailing holiday. It would be better to decide together with your team about when you will go on a yacht vacation.
What is the ideal duration of sailing holidays?
Sailing holidays are usually planned for a week. However, the duration of your vacation may vary depending on your sailing route. Although the boat owners do not offer their yachts for rentals less than a week during high season, it is possible to rent a boat for 2-3 days in low season months – April, May and October.
What type of boat should I rent?
There are 4 different boat types you can choose for your sailing holiday: sailboat, gulet, catamaran and motor yacht. If you are interested in sailing, you can choose to rent a sailboat. For a wider and more comfortable internal space, you may opt for the catamaran rental option. If you don’t want to deal with daily responsibilities such as cooking and cleaning, you can choose to rent a motor yacht and finally if you like speed, renting a motor yacht will be the right choice for you.
How should I decide on my budget?
Budgeting is one of the most important things on a yacht vacation. The budget you need to set for your sailing holiday will vary depending on the type of boat, the number of people in your group, your travel date and your preferred location. If you want to travel with a luxury boat, you need to allocate a budget of more than € 1,000 per person per week. For a budget-friendly holiday, you can choose a boat in the price range of € 250 – 500 per person per week. It would be better to decide on the budget with your team to avoid any confusion that might occur. However, we recommend you not to choose a boat without setting your budget.
Should I rent a boat with or without skipper?
If you have the necessary licenses and enough experience in sailing, you can choose the bareboat yacht charter option and be the skipper of your charter yacht! However, if you don’t have the necessary documents, you have to rent the boat with a skipper.
