The crew of a yacht is the staff who are responsible for all of the general management of the yacht during your entire stay. They are an experienced and knowledgeable team who run the vessel, take care of the route and anchorage, prepare the food, provide the service and run all of the facilities. Evidently, the most important and first crew member is the captain of the yacht. If you have the necessary licenses and experience you may even rent and captain the boat yourself, managing the route and pace as you wish. Nevertheless, even for those with sailing licenses, it is usually recommended to rent the boat along with the captain and crew who know the vessel well and are familiar with the region to ensure a safe and comfortable holiday.
Once you decide if you will go for a bareboat charter or a skippered charter, you will also need to decide on the rest of the crew. When renting a boat with a full crew, you will have the luxury of leaving all meal preparation, facility cleaning and route management to the staff freeing you to lay back, relax, and really enjoy your holiday. In addition to the captain, the crew would usually consist of two to four other staff and this number can be increased as needed.
Gulets and motor yachts are generally rented with a full crew while sailboats and catamarans are often rented only with a captain. If the boats have extra cabins, for prices ranging from 100 to 150 Euros you may arrange staff for both cooking and cleaning, allowing you to fully rewind and make the most of your vacation.
